Another boat came in and started fishing the same hole and we were both using jigs 2-3 cranks off the bottom; caught several real good slabs along with the smaller ones. I plan on being there in the morning. The wind is supposed to be lighter tomorrow. I dragged an anchor most of the time this morning trying to stay in one spot and keep the lines vertical. They ain't likin' a whole lot of movement and the bite is extremely light. If you run the outboard over the school seems like it takes at least 20 minutes for them to settle back down and start back bitin even though they are deep.
WOW!! I dont think I even have that much line on my poles!
Was that a bite? Forgot what they feel like!

Going back to Ouachita Thursday and Friday. It will be too cold for me this week-end. Must build four more condos.

The crappie at the Denby area are deep; anywhere from 18' to 32 feet (bottomed out) in the belly of the channel near the break.

Drop shotted minnows and 1/8 oz white jigs w/ black&chartruse being my second choice. My primary fishing waters will be WNW of Denby in the channel. By the way, I hear the specks are hitting well west across the channel from Mountain Harbour, in the grass along the breaks. I might get there too, in the evening. Wind should be light and out of the South. Mid '60's. It doesn't get much better than this in January. So C'mon over. There's plenty of room. If you do, I'll be in the cream and burgandy 21' Sweetwater pontoon rig. C'mon over and say 'hi.'

Next week will be cccold again. Gotta strike while the iron is hot.
