I finally got off work early enough to hit the local pothole (Lake Monticello) for a couple of hours yesterday. I was able to catch 6 black crappie with five of them being between 13-15 inches and one outlier that was 10.5. The biting was kinda slow but they still made a good mess. I had my 2 1/2 yr-old grandson with me so it was hard to pay attention to the fishing part. Caught them on shiners from 12-18 feet deep in 40 ft water. Tomorrow I will go to either Lake Washington (close to Greenville) or the "rockpile" which is south of Eudora for a day of trolling. One of my buddies caught 51 at Washington on Tuesday and kept 30 (the limit). When I figure out how to post pics I will show them.
From the ARK-LA-MISS Delta....... Crappie Paradise ! ! ! !

The fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad
After fishing L. Monticello a couple of times, I think that would be a fantastic place to drag crankbaits. It could be really good right now while they are suspended over that deeper water. I plan to ease over there when they head for the bottom.
Man, do I like Lake Monticello! It's just so far to go, I don't get around there too often.
Seems like the crappie ought to be hangin' out on the fence rows near the old house pretty soon.

Sounds like some nice fish, good luck at Washington, post a report.
A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.
