Default help for memorial day weekend

I have been a reader of this forum since i moved here 2 years ago.I will be camping Memorial Day weekend at Prairie Creek. I am renting a boat from Hickory Creek and would love some suggestions to put my kids and nephews and neices on some crappie that Sunday. I am land locked except for this time of the year when I can rent a boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Welcome to the site, I don't know anything about that area but someone will probably be able to help you. Post a report after your trip.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Crappie fishing on Beaver is very poor. I recommend you camp at Lake Leatherwood in Eureka. Much better crappie fishing right now! You can rent a boat w/ tr motor for 40 bucks for six hours. The lake is 85 acres.

I went to Leatherwood, in Eureka, and it was beautiful. It is out of town, so you don't have all the "town crowd". There are a lot of places to hike and walk around the lake. We took the kids, and spent all day there.

There is a creek that runs into the lake at the oppisite end of the dam. There also is a trail that goes next to it. One of the best trails that I have seen. You can wade the creek, and have a lot of fun. I do think that it is the main creek that feeds the lake.

Did not try the crappie while I was there, because the wife wanted to do a lot of shopping. One thing we did do was to go to the "cat country". There is a place there that takes in lions, tigers, and other cats. They have over 100 of them. Go on the 4pm tour (runs every hour) because they feed them after that tour. You will never see anything like it. You are actually 2 feet from them when they are roaring and jumping. You will never hear anything that loud come out of a cat's mouth ever agian. We loved it, and it was worth every dime spent to take the tour.
