Had a cabin IN there a few years back. Before it burned down. It was the left turn just before Mallard Pond. There is 7 ac of privite land with 4 or 5 cabins on it. We just deer and duck hunted then. Glaze Creek is where alot of people fished. That is where the dam/spill way is.

Think it would be a great place to spider rig the lakes this time of year as soon as the water drops out. Or put in at Little Nimo (I think) on the Red and motor over and go thru the woods.

Would like to go back someday.

The Red and White is way to low to motor in from. I can get to some other lakes from Mitchells corner. I am new to this and would like to learn if anybody has any experince and wants to try Huricanne in near future let me know. I will get us back to lakes.

This is on a Wildlife Management Area that the game and fish floods for winter duck habitat. During the other times of year you can drive to lakes in WMA now you have to boat from one boat ramp becuase the roads are closed or if the two rivers that border it get high enough that you can boat in from them. The Ark Game and fish has put up a levy structure to capture water to flood it in winter.

I have been impressed by the grennel in these lakes too. I put in the lake up the road from Hurricane one time. I was casting ultralights and it would look like a submarine took it judging by the wakes. I never could get their head turned up so I could see what they were. Probably gar; they had to be at least 4' long. They would al;low me to play them a while, then simply swim off with my $2.50 roostertail!!

The Red it too low to motor in from Nimho this time of year, but the roads should be open now. This time of year the crappie are going to be holding close to the outside edges of the cypress trees in about 5 feet of water. Closer to spring, you need to start fishing the back side of the trees jigging around the cypress knees. Our best luck in Hurricane bottoms has been fishing one pole around the structure, not trolling.

Talked with game and fish last week, they will try to maintian flood until end of Feb for returnng waterfowl. If the water gets low enough they will open roads back up. At this time they are closed becuase of being under water in places. I am going to try your suggestions after this weather gets out of here.

When I was down there last, at the first of this month.....the roads were opened back-up. I just checked the Augusta gauge and the river is 29ft right now. At 26 or 27 they usually close the gate because of the water getting over the road.....so I would bet it's closed.
