Yep, Randy. Timing is everything. As soon as the water starts to cool, they move in there. Water temp almost got too cool, too quickly. It should be really good for the next few weeks with the stable, normal temps.Originally Posted by randybenham
It sounds like you've got it all covered as far as the fishing gear goes. And if anyone wants, they're more than welcome to the 5 gallon bucket for a few hours just to see the fine details...:D
As far as the bite goes, Jerry had similar thoughts on this as well. It seems that they will slow down for a little while in the mornings...picking back up around 10ish. Jerry says that the late afternoon bite has been good.

Hey Darryl, we'll guide you for the day. Even tell you when you've got a bite, take your fish off, and rebait the hook...:DOriginally Posted by Darryl Morris
Nah...I know that you'd like to just get out there and fish without any stress or worry...except for worrying about that big ol' crappie coming unbuttoned at the side of the boat...![]()
I hope everybody that wants to come are able to make it. If not, there are more days of catchin' to be had at CC this winter. I've always got a 5 gallon bucket for somebody...![]()
Hey JT, I like the rules for that lake. There aren't any other lakes that I fish with length limits on crappie. The 15 fish limit is no problem at all. 15 of those crappie will make a heck of a spot in the grease. I'd even be happy with a limit of 10.Originally Posted by J.T. Crappie Guide
I didn't catch many small crappie last year, but it seems that there's a load of 6-7" fish right now...and that makes me real happy to know that they will be big 'uns in a year or two.
Ceb, those are some good looking fish you have there. Making me want to make that trip up there. Even did a little math to see exactly how far it was so I would know how early I would have to leave to be there by daylight. Would love to catch a bunch of 1 1/2 to 2 lb. crappie...Rick

Enjoyed fishing and meeting Jerry and others at Cane Creek. I didn't do as well as some of the other fisherman, I might need to concentrate on the fishing instead of hunting in the mornings and fishing in the afternoons. Really like fishing in the fall at Cane Creek, always plenty of friendly folks who don't mind giving tips. Tried spider rigging with a couple of poles and and I couldn't go more than 10 feet without getting hung up, going to work on that. I'll be heading back there when I get back off.
Hey KG, there's no way around getting hung-up out there while slo-trollin'. However, I rarely break off even with a 6lb leader. I have a few tips that I'll share with you to help keep your sanity while managing those rods...
Hey Chris, that sure is some impressive fish! Keep up the good work. :D
