I spider-rig with only 4 poles at the most. Lots of times, about 3 is all I can manage between navigating the tight spots and getting hung-up religiously. The hovering technique should work well out there. Only thing that won't work is your vertical pole holders...you don't want any rods stickin' up in the air out there cuz there's lots of limbs.
Sounds really good to me. Guiding all the time doesn't necessarily mean I get to fish. I'd love to come there and get the lay of the land from you and Jerry and just go and have fun. When you set a date let me know. If I'm not working on that day, I'm there with bells on.

As far as directions, Cane Creek is right outside of star city. you go through town, (traveling south) turn left at the cane creek state park sign, & it's about 4-5 miles down. if you use google maps, you should be able to find it. I'm glad they are in there now. I will be hitting cane creek real soon. see everyone on the water!

by the way, great pics & fish chris... get back to work, & leave the fishing to us rookies. hah!
Found it, but my map shows Cane Creek to be north of Star City??? Is this the same place and how is the campground?

    Darryl,
Cane Creek lake is about 5 miles east of Star City. Take I 530 to pine bluff, go bypass to 65, & take 425 south to star city. once in star city, you will turn east on 293 almost out of town. Cane Creek is 5 miles outside of town. I tried to insert a map of it from google maps, but couldn't get it to work.

Hey Randy, your ride from England wouldn't be to bad. Its 38 +/- miles from my house in the city limits of Altheimer. They put in a newer road from the new road over the river at Shepards Island. It cuts out all of going through Pine Bluff, and the papermill traffic on their log yard road if you went that way. 60 or 70 minutes for you I would bet. I do know what you mean about the travel, I get my feelings hurt if I have to drive more than 20 minutes to hunt or fish. Jim.

    JT,
the size limit is a 10" minimum on fish harvest, & 15 per person per day. It is more restrictive than the rest of the "crappie zone, which is 30 per person per day.

Hey Darrell I hope you get to come down, I know you'll have a good time. We'll put you on the fish. Those big black crappie are sure fun to catch, and frying them up on the lake is hard to beat.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.
