    Default Fishing the marina

Taken from a post on the missouri board. Talkin' about the new rules proposed for our yankees up in northern AR. Might be of interest to somebody.

"You are correct, at present time it is a "proposed" policy change for the Little Rock District only. The lakes in MO that it would effect is Table Rock, Bullshoals, and Clearwater. The rest of the COE lakes are either Kansas City District (Pomme, Stockton, Truman, Smithville, Longbranch etc.) or St. Louis District. (Mark Twain, Wappapello, and some others over on the east side). The policy would have limited enforcement, i.e. basically the only ones capable of enforcement would essentially be the COE Rangers. The Missouri State Water Patrol and MDC would not be able to enforce unless it becomes a state law, which is almost no chance of happening at present time. I am going to take a guess at this point and say that it will go into effect at the Little Rock Dist. Lakes as a pilot program with a 3 year sunset for review and decision whether or not to make permanent. Personally speaking for myself and several others involved in it in the KC District we are not in favor of it, there are lots of problems inherent once you get to looking into the details of the plan. The marinas in KC Dist are currently allowed to post the no fishing zone around the marina docks but again the enforcement is restricted to "just how big an ol boy you are".

I dont usually get to those other lakes and the lake here already has the 50' buffer which is pretty much respected by all ethical fishermen here. thanks for the info good to know if i do ever get over there.

I saw this in the bass times last year. some marina owner was getting in a tizzy about people fishing around his pier. more regulations. just what this country needs.

I have seen some fishing around marinias, to me this practice is unwise at best, exactly for the reasons stated. However, this appears to be so loosly worded as to being applied to other docks in the lake. Now, a regulation that is interpreted to apply to all docks in the lake would be a tragic.

After all, we the people do own the lake since it was our tax dollars that built them in the first place. Docks are only allowed on the lake because those folks have rented space on our home water, they do not own the water. We the fishermen need to watch these rascals real close, because the fox is closing in on the hen house. Do you know that we represent a block vote that totals in the billions of dollars every year.

    Default Dang right!

I'm with FlyFlinger...there should be regulations (which they are already in place)...NO WAKES within the designated NO WAKE ZONE, etc. However, the no fishing within 50' of docks on the lake would be TERRIBLE~! MM
