    Exclamation Beaver Lake Update...09/08/07...

Caught a few nice crappie on Friday night. Went out right before it got dark and stayed until about 10:30 p.m. - the shad were boiling the water in the millions (literally), it was like nothing I've ever seen for about 30 minutes right before dark - we were in between Hickory Creek Marina and Point 12, the bluff's before Piney Creek/War Eagle - along the river channel. We floated along the bluffs catching fish suspended 10-15' deep off the bluffs, hanging trees and crevices in the bluffs seems to be the most productive. Caught a couple along docks in the White River arm in between Piney Creek and War Eagle marina, seems all fish were suspended and would hit the jig on the way down, just letting it fall, between 10-15'....black/chartreuse Yum curtails....(yes, MinnowMan has ZERO minnows due to Bill at Hickory leaving as we pulled up, haha). We used white and flourescent lighting both about 6-8 feet deep on each side of the boat. Fishing was hot between 7-8 p.m. - once the rain started in lightly about 9 p.m. the fishing DIED, caught a few nice meanmouth green carp up around the cut-through across from Monte Ne cove too, well after dark, along the west side of the bluffs using 10" plastic worms, casting to bank and retrieving. This is one picture of one of the 12" fish...it was dark, and raining, sorry the picture quality is not up to par!! MM

YEP! They were there....I have a funny story to tell you, about our phone conversation, haha. Something happened, it was almost hilarious. I bet if the fishing was anything like it was after the rain started on Friday night it was REAL tough on Saturday morning! Hoping to put my dad and his singing buddy out on the boat for some fish on Sat. evening/night. They are coming in town to sing at Rocky Branch Baptist Church on Sat. evening and Sunday afternoon. Jack is going to let me borrow his boat to use that evening. He's a good friend for letting me do that, hopefully the fish won't dissappoint! MM

Today was somwhat tough also. Jerry and I caught enough for supper but that's about it. Of coarse I didn't fish any of the normal honey holes, I tried a few places I hadn't fished in a while and was pleased on a spot or two. All the fish were nice, 11" or larger. I will be out with Tyler Thursday bass/ crappie fishing. I have a trip Saturday.

Take them to point 12 dock, it won't disapoint. The whites should be surfacing as well! Call me if you have questions.

What time do you want me to meet you? My dad said they should be in town about 3-4 p.m. I think, if you want to drop/leave boat at my place until my dad comes that would be fine?! Whatever you think would work best my friend. I bet you'll have fun with 'em though! MM
