I知 confused about how to shop for braided fishing line. If the spool says 6lb, is that the breaking point of the line, or is that the equivalent diameter of 6lb mono? If it痴 the equivalent diameter, how do I determine the breaking strength?

Here is a chart that if you know the diameter of the line it will give you the actual breaking strength. This over rating of lines started somewhere around the early 70's. You can thank the bass fishing world for that. For years now I have been getting my lines out of Japan. But a couple of years back Varivas....a site sponsor.....brought their lines to the US market. Their lines break at what is stated on the packaging.....plus some for the finest fishing line made.
