Glad y'all had a good time at Heber. I guess that I need to go ahead and invest in some crankbaits...dam things are just too expensive though. Anybody know of anywhere to get good baits for a cheaper price?

If that's what I'm thinking of, the titanium split rings? I looked at those,
seems like they were pretty high though, like several dollars per bait?

I know, it's supposed to save an expensive crankbait, but I just got to
thinking how much it would cost to put them on as many as I use -
I get by ok most of the time with a good plug-knocker. "knocked one up"
hooked to a trotline other day though at Pickwick, couldn't shake it loose
and had to pull the whole line to the top, bout cut my fingers off they had
the line stretched so tight... had to hook it over a cleat on the boat
while I "worked" on it - at least till I could reach my side-cutters
d**n thing was big as my finger with algae, hooks rusty...
don't mind trotlines, just abandoned ones that ain't marked!

I wonder if those rings ever "pop" the wrong way and stay with the hook
instead of the bait when they release? Wouldn't be much of a deal if
that happened very often. I can see where it would be good though in
a tournament where you ain't got time to reel in the other lines and go
    plug-knocking. Anybody tried them?

I've seen a few Bass fishermen in stumpy lakes cut off the front treble hook's point that goes down to reduce snags. Also here the water is colored and some troll with thin braided line. It's stronger and has less water drag as it's thinner diameter. Lighter wire trebles on your baits might make them bend easier to pull free. All else fails build a lure knocker. I use one in deep water for my jigs. I use 8 oz. lead sinker on a heavy line and attach a large snap swivel next to the sinker.Snap the swivel to your line and lower to your bait to knock it free.
