Angry Outrage about Cypress Trees being clear cut on Little Maumelle near Pinnacle Mountain

Has anyone seen the clear cut of 40-50 cypress trees on the banks and even in the river on the Little Maumelle on the way to the Ranch and Pinnacle Mountain State Park?? It is just past the bridge on Pinnacle Valley Road by Hatcher's Blue Birds ranch. This is an outrage, this is an illegal cut since that water way belongs to the citizens of the State of Arkansas!!! Please complain to anyone who might have the authority to intervene and protect this beautiful natural waterway. Some big shot attorney, Gene Ludwig, has done this to build a landing strip for private jets!! That will interfere with fishing and the wildlife there!! THis must be stopped or we will all lose this beautiful unspoiled natural area for fishing and boating.

After 50 phone calls I found out that Heather Richardson, an investigator for the Arkansas Attorney General's Office for the Environmental Forestry Commission, may be able to take action. She needs lots of info and facts to start and investigation, and arguments about why this must be stopped! Be sure to give it your best shot mention the wetlands, close proximity to Pinnacle Mountain State Park, fishing, tourism, mention it is a WETLAND AREA!!PLEASE CALL HER AT 501 682 5276 OR EMAIL [email protected]

The best view is views are #2 and #4 ......

NOW I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS GUY IS DEVELOPING A NEW COMMUNITY OF 12 FIVE ACRE LOTS WITH MILLION DOLLAR HOMES ON EACH ONE EACH WITH A PLACE TO TAXI THEIR PRIVATE JETS BESIDE THEIR HOUSE.........YES! IT IS A JET LANDING STRIP FOR 12 HOMES!! THIS WILL TOTALLY DESTROY THE ENVIRONMENT, FISHING, ETC. THE NOISE AND POLLUTION WILL HARM ALL THE WILDLIFE!! SINCE THIS IS APPARENTLY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF LITTLE ROCK, I CAN'T BELIEVE HE DID THIS WITHOUT HAVING TO GET A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT AND WITHOUT HAVING A PUBLIC HEARING ON THAT CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT AND WITHOUT A HEARING ON GETTING THE BUILDING PERMITS. ARKANSANS, WE NEED MUCH TOUGHER ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS!! ONE MAN SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RUIN A PUBLIC TAXPAYER OWNED RIVER AND DESTROY THE FISHING AND BOATING AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT IN A WETLAND AREA. IT SHOULD BE PROTECTED BY THE STATE OF ARKANSAS!!!

Just an update, please contract attorney Jean Ludwig through his website and let him know just what you think about his clear cutting of 41 ancient Cypress trees on the banks of the Little Maumelle River http://www.ludwiglawfirm.com/contact.html 800-955-1999 or 501868-7500. This is within the city limits of the city of Litte Rock so please voice your opinion to the Little Planning Board and City Board of Directors as to why a permit was given to do this!!!!!!!

Please everyone contact the Corps office in L.R. as soon as possiable. I was once told any trees cut or clearing of wetlands must done only when permit was issued ?. Call or Email the AGFC ,USCOE, and any agency dealing with conservation. Try sending a message to 7 on your side. Do make this known or we may not have this fishing spot as we have known it for long.

sad thing about that is that now the trees are gone.. and maybe he will only get a fine if that!!! It's BS...they should make him replant em with good size trees and not saplings!!!

About 250000 would be a start in the right direction.

You know if you look at the attention the little 3 acre swamp area by the Clinton musem has gathered the past few years it sure makes you scratch your head how they would allow this to go down. Now it looks like there going to let the developers start building homes around Lake Maumelle. Just go on Google Maps and look at what the only developemet by the lake has caused. You can see the run off from the Alotion golf club big time on the arial view map. Now I can only imagine what it will be like when the area is developed.

We have so few pristine natural areas close to Little Rock and I just can't understand why a few of the wealthy elite are allowed to ruin it for everybody.

I spoke with the Corps of Engineers. This guy apparently checked about their jurisdiction and he did not violate the only 2 laws they could enforce in this situation which is the Clean Water Act or the Rivers and Harbous Act. Apparently there is a loophole where he could chain saw but not use a bulldozer and as long as he hauled the wood off and did not leave it in the water he was not in violation. The only issue that remains is WHO OWNS THAT RIVER AND WHO IS THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY WHO OVERSEES THAT??? If the river belongs to the taxpayers then the state has an interest and maybe the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission or the Arkansas Attorney General's Office has oversight! If he is allowed to get away with this, others will follow and we will lose this pristine area that so many enjoy.

    Description:
The Natural Heritage Commission identifies and protects elements of Arkansas natural heritage in a statewide system of natural areas.

probably something along the lines the state owns the water but the land owner owns the land under and around the water.

Apparently this guy, attornye Gene Ludwig, is building a JET LANDING STRIP INSIDE A NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENT FOR 12 DIFFERENT MILLION DOLLAR HOMES EACH ONE WITH A PLACE TO TAXI THEIR PRIVATE JET TO....ALL along this beautiful wetland area. This is apparently within the city limits of Little Rock so I can't imagine how he got a CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT AND BUILDING PERMITS WTIHOUT A PUBLIC HEARING!!!! This is such an outrage to put down all that concrete. The noise and planes will pollute the river and destroy the wetland environment not to mention run off the wildlife, birds, and FISH!!! IF WE DON'T STOP THIS NOW THERE WILL BE GATED COMMUNITIES DOWN THE ENTIRE LITTLE MAUMELLE RIVER DESTROYING THE HABITAT AND FISHING !!
