    Fun trip

Took a vacation day today and went to a small lake in Logan County. Spider rigging double minnow rigs. Caught 15 or so but most were small. 15 to 20 few 10 to 15 feet deep. Caught a few small bass. Was a fun trip. Picture is not very good but it is of my one double. Was landing a small crappie and looked at that rod and almost half of it was under the water.

    The Ole Cement Pond

I drug Matt out with me to the cement pond on a day off to see what was going on. It was raining hard early, then sprinkled, and then got really windy. We tried to fish deep brush but we were having a hard time staying on the marker buoy with the wind. We ended up catching over 40 in 5 hours of fishing from 6" to 6' Most were just eaters but some were a little better. Baits of choice were hand poured 1/16oz hot pink big eyed jig head and a shad or chartruse colored baby shad or scent wiggler. To be honest, they were smacking it hard and the colors and style probably didn't matter today. They best thing about it was that we didn't see another boat until we were motoring out. All the fish are still in the lake ready to be caught again. Not because i am a C&R guy but becuase i already have to much crappie from the spring. Can't wait until the next day off!

    Congratulations GTT!

I know this is too late for the contest, which is fine by me. I just wanted to share.

I went today, mostly to build structure, but I fished some. The fishing was tough. All the fish I caught were in the thickest brush I fished. I caught 23 crappie, but only 3 were what I consider keepers. I met a member while getting the boat in the water and saw him and his wife again on the water, it was her birthday. I gave them the fish for their dinner. It was nice meeting hacksslabs and his wife. Everything I caught was on Nimrod Specials.

They hit it off immediately!!! You would think the sound of spidering with a couple 3 year old boys in the boat would be pandemonium! But they were both well behaved and really getting along great!!! Man the bite started immediately and was so fast and furious I don't think we EVER got all 8 poles baited! On top of a fast bite the fish were on average HUGE! So big the boys sometimes would not have the strength to get the pole out of the rod holders! They weren't always fishing, one would be the "Captian of the ship" and the other was shooting cannons at the bad guys! They also enjoyed dangling their feet in the live well full of fish. They were having so much fun doing that.....I almost had to give it a shot to see where the thrill was in that! Hahahaha. To the business part caught em 6-8fow, 5 ft deep on bighead jigs pink/chart and chart/white tipped with a minner 0.5mph. I can see a many more trip in these boys futures!!!
