Caught 5 in about 15 minutes, tight lining a jig at the base of cypress trees on Lake Conway. Wind blew me away since my trolling motor battery was dead. The warmer than normal water temps have the crappie still hanging in some of their summer hides.

    Pretty good afternoon...

Managed 15 keepers yesterday afternoon. No real pattern... some shallow, some deep, some off cypress and the others in the pads. Only thing consistent was anything chartreuse. The fall bite is close!

Yesterday was one of those slow days where not many bites but a few good ones . Moved around alot looking for fish instead of hammering the few I located . Found more spots without fish than ones that did .
Fished another area on Saturday and caught lots of fish but most were very small . This fall transition can be tough till the Crappie settle on a pattern . Here lately Nimrod has been much slower for most .

I caught these dipping brush on purple / chart umbrellas tubes on 1/8 oz heads . All the good fish were tight to wood .But rather keep 8 good ones 11 to 15'' than a limit of short fish anytime . Completely different pattern last Saturday were they were suspended shallow in open water but mostly dinks .
I had quit for a few days to run nets and could not fish here but everyone said it is slow . Water still in the low 70's and fish started die'n in deeper nets . Decided to pull em for a few days and try Crappie fishing awhile .

My schedule has been so crazy. Finally had a minute to get a few. Nine nice ones between 13 & 14.....6 more kept just above limit. Good for 2 big meals. Sure was missing getting the lines wet. The fish are just going to start filling those bellys for winter. Good times ahead if I could just get work to leave me alone...lol.

    Never know 'til ya go

Wasn't sure how the bite would be, cold front and it was misting/raining when I got to the lake, but boy were they hot! Fished through 1/2lb of minners and kept half a limit all over 10" with one really good one.

    FRIENDS FLEECING CRAPPIE 10/19/16

We finally decided to introduce our boys together over a spider rigging trip! They hit it off immediately!!! You would think the sound of spidering with a couple 3 year old boys in the boat would be pandemonium! But they were both well behaved and really getting along great!!! Man the bite started immediately and was so fast and furious I don't think we EVER got all 8 poles baited! On top of a fast bite the fish were on average HUGE! So big the boys sometimes would not have the strength to get the pole out of the rod holders! They weren't always fishing, one would be the "Captian of the ship" and the other was shooting cannons at the bad guys! They also enjoyed dangling their feet in the live well full of fish. They were having so much fun doing that.....I almost had to give it a shot to see where the thrill was in that! Hahahaha. To the business part caught em 6-8fow, 5 ft deep on bighead jigs pink/chart and chart/white tipped with a minner 0.5mph. I can see a many more trip in these boys futures!!!
