fancy rig to bring in some whales at Lake Conway. Yesterday, fished from 7 am till bout 2:15 pm and had not one bite. All of sudden, wham, they turned on and I caught all these. Left at 5:15 pm with a great smile and big pileAll were caught between Adams Landing and Green's Lake in 7/10 feet of water fishing a tight line single pole jig 6.5 feet deep. They were hanging tight on the cedars. Lead head 1/16th jig with a nimrod special tube
. Smallest was 11" - largest was a tad over 14" - with most of the others running 12-12 1/2". Two were female, the rest were males. The eggs were starting to get mushy looking and not firm (what does that mean? bout to spawn?)
Sorry bout that green carp

Great post and pics, Congrats!!
Congratulations! I have been wondering when we would have a report from Conway. Thanks for sharing.
Chris
After I fillet them and cut out the rib cage, I wash them in cold water and put them in a 1 quart freezer bag from Kroger, then wrap the bag with aluminum foil, weight em, describe em, and date em. Been doing that for bout 30 years - keep it simple. I never have more than 5-6 bags ranging from 1-1 1/2" pounds per bag and they never hang around more than 4 months, usually not near that long. Taste like I caught them this afternoon when I fry em up in some peanut oil or bake em with a butter and cracker batter (ummmm good). Paul

I thought you were going to say "Don't take no for an answer" to which my first thought was "I agree, or else I wouldn't have any kids". But you just threw me off for a minute. And those babies (fish) are from the man who used to say he could catch any good ones on Conway. Way to go Paul! The man from Newport showing us how to make it happen, never give up.. or take no for an answer.I'd say she has spawned.
Thanks Mac, learning Conway slowly and with a lot of help from some good people on CC. Many subtle and straight forward tips from people like Nimrod, CrappiePro, JiggingPoleJoe,, DanoGoldCreek, D-10, yourself, and the list goes on and on.
I agree with the "no kid" discussion

Great pic and post. Like to be down there this weekend to catch a mess but the turkey fever has kicked in. Gotta try my luck in the woods first. Congrats on the mess, way to hang in there.
