My son had some time off this past week and he and I had some real quality time on a fishing road trip. Our final destination on our road trip took us to Dallas where we met our families and my brother's families for Thanksgiving. After all the rain this week I felt like our options this week could be somewhat limited, however, we chose Lake Erling for our first stop. Since we had never been there before I called MacDaddy for some info. He and his son-in-law went way above the call of duty to help us. Thanks. The fish were in a early winter pattern near the channels and brush - 12 to 18ft. deep. That afternoon we only caught 10 or 12 but several were real grown ups (sorry-only remember to take this one picture). That evening we headed for Texas and fished Lake Fork - several small fish and only 4 keeper crappie. The next day we headed out for Lake Caddo - the locals including guides suggested we should go back home. Pretty muddy water and strong current. Didn't find fish or a pattern until 2 pm and ended up with 18 keepers - they were in the lily pads out of the current. They really did tag an orange and chartreuse jig. We covered a lot of miles and ate some good food - caught a few fish - had some great conversation - what more could a proud dad ask for.
