Is he banned from my boat too? I can teach him the "true path"(no minners). Being seen in my boat is akin to child/elder abuse whichever fits.

Happy and Safe Thanksgiving to all!

Thank GOD he is alright and lesson learned. Had a similar issue with my youngest daughter. She was about 6 and we were fishing big maumelle in early march for bass. We launched at cooks landing and we were about a mile up into big maumelle bass fishing. Water temp was 52 and I was stowing the trolling motor with my back to her and I heard a splash. I grabbed her by her life jacket and bundled her up with all clothes in my bass boat and ran the 6 miles back to cooks. She was freezing, her only comment was "at least I have a good strong daddy to pull me out of the river".
Cold water is NO JOKE!!! If you are alone and go in all bundled up you will not be able to get back into your boat. Ive had 2 good friends who spent at least 100 days a year on the water both die in separate cold water submersion accidents. Your life jacket is like concealed carrying a weapon...."you may NEVER need it but when you do, YOU NEED IT! Stay safe my friends!

I always carry a towel and a couple changes of winter clothes, in the boat in one of those giant zip locks. It can be a long cold ride back to the truck!

Glad that turned out good for you and Jacob. Can't be too vigilant when kids are in the boat. Thank God Jacob had on his life vest. I hope your post of this event will inspire other parents to be sure life vests are used and to be watchful, especially in cold weather fishing.
My wife keeps saying I never listen to her....... or something like that!

So glad it turned out well for y'all. Several years ago I pulled a man and his young nephew out of Horseshoe Lake in November. The kid had a life jacket on, but his uncle didn't. I'm sure glad I was right there to pull them out right after their boat turned over. (pull start, motor in gear, full throttle) After that incident, I got certified by AGFC to teach Boating Safety. I always start out my session with that story.
