I just bought 8 new 14 foot Southern Crappie Rods. I love them. I have not had a really big fish on one of them yet, but it's just a matter of time. The biggest I have caught so far was a gar that was 10 lbs or so and I had no problem handling that fish. They are plenty sensitive to see a light bite of a crappie as well.

Forgot to mention, there are several guys on the Mississippi board that are using Southern Crappie Rods. Not one of them has anything bad to say about them. You might want to get over there and read the thread or do a thread search. You will find several threads about them in a search. Ed (owner of Southern Crappie Rods) seems to be a really good guy as well. I ordered my rods and had them on my door step in 2.5 business days.

There are lots of quality rods out there. Most manufacturers only make one style of rod. You either like their rod or you don't. I use BnM because they make a trolling rod for every situation, and every action, plus you can use a Capps and Coleman tip on their PST rod to create a great combo for light bites and lots of backbone, AND it gives you two different sets of rods with just the purchase of an extra set of tips instead of two complete rod sets. Gives a person the ability to fish any way they want from pulling cranks, spider rigging, or power trolling with a simple tip change.

That being said, the problem I've faced with smaller rod companies is their Customer Service. Most will deliver your rods fairly quickly, but most don't have the tips and parts for replacements, or if they do, they are expensive or slow to get them to you. They also ALWAYS charge you for tips. BnM will give you a tip and do it quickly if there is any question whatsoever as to the problem being the rods fault. Impeccable Customer Service from BnM. That's why they've been around the longest. Quality products and world class customer service.

Bill is correct, everyone has their preferences. I have no good experience with B and M rods and that's why I don't fish with them.
You have to satisfy you. I did my research and found what I wanted. I can't speak for the customer service of Southern Crappie Rods, but I don't expect to have to worry about it.
As I said earlier, get over on the Mississippi board and ask the guys using them if they have issues with customer service or their thoughts on the rods.
One thing that was asked of me was, "How many Southern Crappie Rods have you ever seen on the For Sale board?" I thought that was a valid point.
I hope I have given you some insight on Southern Crappie Rods.

I have sets of both 14 and 16. I have no need to have others I also have 3 sets of B&Ms..I will continue to use the PSTs because of the weight they can carry.. There is no comparison between Southern Crappies and BGJPS, or Capps & Colemans. After going thru 8 sets of rods, I have found what I was looking for..As far as customer service....Again Southern Crappie has my vote...I broke a tip, and the replacement was in my hand 3 days later..I caught the tip in the rafter of my shop.. Ed Duke is as good as they get.
