tricky part is I think it changes.Sometimes and some jigs loop, others tight to the eye and position the knot to hold the jig how you want it.
I experimented one winter sitting in the basement with a bunch of different lines brands and jig eye styles to find the knot breaking strength. I found that not every line worked the best with the same knot. The break strength would change sometimes just by changing jig eye size or type.Sometimes say a palomar was good in 10lb test on larger jigeyes but 6lb on small eyes it wasn't. Test your setup to make sure your getting 90 percent or so knot strength.
I have went almost exclusively to Trilene easy cast in green and use the trilene knot on 6lb and small jig eyes, over 6lb the palomar works okay. I tie tight to the jig.If fishing a lure that wiggles I use a loop to increase the action if it seems to help. I also use 20lb powerpro with a three ft leader of green tinted mono or flourocarbon ( if you have never tried this it is wicked good....your leader knot must be good....but man it will cast a mile on spinning gear and catch a big fish with easy handling.
I am a cast fisherman....I do not spider rig,and rarely long pole.So take that into consideration.
