A fellow crappie fisherman motored up to me at 10:00 Friday morning while I was just a fishing away. Don't know who he was, "Catchin any?" he says. "Well I have caught a few here." I said. (Talking about the patch of Cypress I was in.) He said he hadn't' done any good that morn. We talked a little more as he fished 10 feet from me for about 10 minutes and wished each other good luck and he moved on. Well.......What I failed to tell him was I had already put 26 of the prettiest slab crappie in the ice chest. I wasn't lying. Anyway I have fished 6 of the last 10 days at Lake Erling and limited out every time, with 14" to 16" slab crappie. The one pic with what appears to be a minnow was caught on my jig. These were also found in the crappies stomachs. I guess that is why they are liking my chartreuse-glitter/chartreuse MidSouth tube jig. They resemble quite a bit. Going back soon!!! Hope you enjoy the pics. By the way I was single poleing.

Nice catch , but not the first fisherman to tell a small lie or hide his success . Too many times giving away too much information can hurt your success. Even though you like to help others it is not always the wises thing to do.![]()

With holding information isn't lying! Unless they are close friends then holding out is never a bad idea.
Just like at the boat ramp you get "did you catch any" comes from folks. The answer is "yea caught a few".
Good time, right there! I don't ever actually lie to other fishermen either, but I may not be exactly 100% honest if I'm sitting in my hole when they're sitting there asking me how I'm doing.
I remember fishing with my dad and uncle one time when I was a kid and we were in a hot redear bed. Another fisherman approached and we all fished with a bare hook while he came by, then after he left we started baiting up again. This process went off and on a few more times that morning until we had caught all we wanted.
My uncle has passed away since, but he always remembered the day we were catching redears so fast we had to fish with a bare hook to keep from giving our spot away. Kinda sneaky, but........

Great Catch!!!!!! Man that looks like a blast!!!
Great catch. Not telling everything doesn't hurt. This spring I have tried to help a few guys out with very detailed information. Others get the response of yeah they are biting slow, yeah I got a few in the livewell, and my favorite I heard they are catching them on Dardenelle or Conway. None of which were lies, but maybe slight misinformation. Lord know that others have used the same one liners on me.
