After a failed attempt to catch crappie most of the day Shawn and I finally caught a few. Worked till mid afternoon searching for a crappie bite. Saw lots of bait fish on the sonar but the crappie didn't seem to follow. Fished Dardenelle's deep locations pushing minnows and finally decided to call it quits with only one small crappie and a butt load of Kentucky bass. Pulled into the Atkins boat launch to find only one truck. Decided to head home at this point. Stopped by another lake on the way home about an hour before dark and finally started to get bites. Fished single poles in 18 fow just hanging a 1/16th chartreuse jig head and mid south 1000 in front of them. Nothing big to speak of but a lot of good eaters. Made us realize we still can catch a crappie. Had a good time just being outdoors today.![]()

Pretty fish.
Ain't Dardanelle an amazing bass lake? I hate a bass. Last fall, Carol and I fished over there and found the bass, but left them to hunt crappie which we never found. The last morning, I asked if she wanted to go back and see if the bass were still where we found them, and they were. Twice we had 7 on at the same time and in a couple hours I estimate we caught and released around 50 off of one point. During the melee, we managed to lose a phone in the lake and tangled up more tackle than a fellow would in a whole fall of fishing. The deer were even standing on the bank looking at us all bug eyed but occasionally one would just bust out laughing. I suppose we did look pretty stupid with all that was happening. I hate a bass, but they'll bend the pole when things get slow. The only redeeming thing was that we managed a couple real nice cats that were apparently slumming with those bass. The cats ate real good. No pics. They are on the phone in the bottom of the lake. I occasionally get a call that sounds like a bass snickering on the line and I suspect that they are making prank calls off the contact list in the phone.
Your fish are lots prettier than a bass.
