Well looks like not many folks are posting reports so here goes mine from a recent outing.

Caught close to 100 fish as Mickey likes to use a counter for the fish count lol

Depth 14-18 fow along brush piles

Double limit caught with my friend Mickey on a beautiful day

Culled 1 fish for every one we kept seemed like

Single pole fished 1/8 oz and 1/4 oz home poured jig heads pink in color with a chart body for a little while but action was slow. I down sized to a 1/16 chart/orange jig head with smaller chart/white flake jig body and the bite picked up. We tried tipping with minnows but that didn't seem to help and actually the bite was non existent on the bigger presentation. I know ya hear big baits equal big fish but not all the time will this hold true i found. When something isn't working then keep changing until you find something that will work. Don't get stuck in a rut would be my advice. The bite was the softest I have seen this year. I could see my rod tip wiggle slightly and never feel the bite. Lesson learned was to watch the tip just like spidering as you may not feel the bite. Since we downsized baits I put a med split shot up the line 18 inches to help the lighter jig get down quicker to the fish.

Best split shots to use are the ones without ears imo as they cause a lot of line twist. You can use them if you put a swivel in line some where above your bait.

We did spider some in the end to finish up our limit. I used my electronics to find the fish first. If I scanned the brush and no fish were on top of the brush we moved on. Seem like the ones on the outside of the brush were more actively feeding.

Them little black pocket buoys Arkie came out with are real nice to use but if the weight isn't free they will sink lol. Found that out today the hard way. Just word of caution.

Another tip was to use straight minnows single pole fishing the tops when the bite slowed down. Don't know if the fish would get used to the same color jig or they just liked the minnows.

Sure is nice to get out and enjoy the lake and spend the day with a friend.

We covered a lot of water to find the fish as they were scattered but concentrated at the same time if that makes sense.
