Thanks for the story Chris and thanks to other people contributing also. I grew up bank fishing with my dad. We didn't own a boat until I was 14, but we still managed to catch a fish more often than not. I married a woman who liked to fish, but we really didn't go often, maybe 4 or 5 times a year when the bream got right. In 09', I decided to learn to "crappie fish" rather than just catching them by accident. Since Feb of 09, I've found out about crappie seasons, purple turbans, and dennimite. I've also learned new places to fish like, lake X, and lake Yawnoc and have even learned how to help our home lake to be better. All these things put together have allowed us to be do what we like to do, and that is catch a crappie. The hardest thing in our early stages of learning to crappie fish is keeping Carol out of the bream beds when they are right. It is much easier to do now than it was just a few years ago, but every once in awhile we just gotta get on the bank and get a bluegill fix.
It is amazing to me that there are people on here that consistently put fish in the boat seemingly anytime they are on the water and in any conditions. I have the greatest respect for those skills and Chris, I believe you to be one of these people. Thanks for sharing your story.
Some day I hope to be as good this fisherman who joined me in catching a few. He was not very talkative, but seemed to have a knack catching a few.
