Yeah, those redears were large and in charge! Not real sure why the crappie were there, though. We have never caught crappie there before. We have caught bigger redears there, though. They were in 4 feet depth on top of two underwater mounds that my dad and I found 30+ years ago before the age of depth finders. Back in the early 80's, White Oak Lake was drawn way down so that people could repair their boathouses and to kill lily pads, or so I've been told. Anyway, we noticed that there were 2 humps out of the water probably 50 yards or so off the bank. We checked them out and the tops were covered with little cupped out circles. We knew what they were and we have caught redears, bluegills, and catfish there every year since then. Some years are better than others, but there'll be something there every year. Lots of people hug the banks in search of bream, but I fish out in the lake for them, and usually find them in April and May. I think the humps are Indian mounds, but that's just my guess. They are both perfect circles probably 20 yards diameter, 20 yards apart. Redears like those humps almost as much as I do. GTT
