With 10-20 MPH south winds the boat ramp at Hogue will be pretty rough. If you stay on the south end of the lake it usually isn't too bad. I fished it today from 1:30 to dark, and caught several nice ones. The bite picked up a lot about an hour before dark. Before that it was kinda slow. They seemed to like a blue and chartreuse jig tipped with a minnow over any of the other colors i tried.

Got that right. Seems like the wind is always blowing harder down there than its supposed to be. At least the water is high enough this year to cover most of the stumps.

I'm used to it for the most part. I fish Mallard quite a bit and that lake runs north to south. When the wind blows there it's pretty rough. Mallard hasn't been much good this year so I'm looking for new waters to fish.

Most of the time it's relative to the body of water your fishing. Over here Sardis lake will get to rolling pretty bad with a east wind that does not have to be all that bad and can be very dangerous. Most of the time I'm like Arkcrappie, got the stuff to stay out with but I usually won't go out if any mention of 20. More than I want to start with. One thing about pulling chains, make sure you use a weak link to hook it to your boat. Need something that will breakaway if it gets hung in a strong wind. You may not think so but it dose not take much to sink your boat if it hangs long with big rollers coming over your stern. Put a float on line hooked to anything your dragging. That way if need be you can cut it loose and go back and retrieve later.
