Default Apologies to all ( Please Read)

Well I don't know how to say this except to say it. I am sitting here in my recliner on day 2 of a colonoscopy prep feeling like crap and I get a post from Crappie Greg with a kind remark about the post I made about slabbers in the cove. When I read that the fish I caught was probable the biggest ever caught in Conway lake, I started thinking about it. The more I thought the more I started second guessing myself. I weighed the fish on my wives kitchen scale and I started wondering if that thing was really right. Well to make a long story short I found another scale and pulled the fish out of the freezer and weighed it and it weighed 2.77 pounds. And after doing this I cannot let this stand, I would rather be known as an idiot than a person that tells lies. All I can ask at this point is that you understand that this mistake was unintentional and I would understand if you guys no longer wanted me to participate in this forum. I am so sorry for this mistake. And especially to the guys that have been fishing for years trying to catch a fish this size. Farren

If the fish has been in the freezer, it will lose a whole bunch of weight due to dehydration. I appreciate you trying to "make it right", but I can guarantee that it weighed lots more fresh out of the water. It's still a huge fish. Wish you the best on the colonoscopy. The prep just ain't no phun. Hang in there buddy.

When it come to weight and scale and dates I care less. You did catch a good fish and that all that matter to me. I hope you better days with colonoscopy.

I don't personally know many folks here.........but I'd like to meet you! An honest man, a moral man. I'd fish with you anytime.

I caught a 3 lb fish about 25-35 years ago. Heck if I remember when. Never heard of a 'livewell' back then. Put it on ice, in a chest, about 11:00 one morning, on Lake Nimrod. I weighed it at Toad Suck One Stop at about 7:00 pm..........and it weighed about 2.96 or something, don't remember that either, except it wasn't 3 lbs. But that just meant it did weigh 3 lbs before putting on ice.

I would bet a good nickel that yours DID weigh 3 lbs.

And if it didn't, the difference is splitting hairs, for no reason.

Those are MY opinions only........but I'd mount it, call it "my 3 pounder" and brag like crazy. But what you just said and did mean a lot more to me than some panfish, I know that. My grandfather did something I thought crazy at the time, driving across town to return a penny to a man, but it helped shape me into what I hope is an honest one.

OH....and I have a lot of health problems. Heart attack, colitis, you name it. I've had a ton of colonoscopies. Good for you getting one, colon cancer is ugly and preventable.

Here's what I think. I think your post above does two things. It promotes honesty, and that men 'of age' need to get colonoscopies whether they like 'em or not. GOOD FOR YOU on both counts.

Hope it turns out ok. I know today ain't fun!!! Good luck.

No prob popshot. You had many of us wondering for sure. Still a good fish in my book. Everyone's scales different and some folks scales have never seen them heavy numbers lol. When I come weigh mine dan make sure it isn't calibrated ;-)

just my get get a package of meat from the store with a weight on it close to 3 lbs, put it on your wifes scales and see how it compares to what is on the package. You wont have to wondered forever what the fish weighed as it should give a really close estimate if your fish weight was right.
