    TJ,

Get something that doesn't leak, and everything else will fall into place. Next time your in LR, I'll take you out on the river. You can also take a look at my 1448 remodel. That would also be a good option for you. Buy a jon boat, and lay it out just the way that you want.

back in 1995 I attended college down in Monticello. I had F&F Boats build me a custom boat exactly like I wanted. I was into bowfishing at the time, so it was suited very well for that. It was a 1756 and I put a 70hp yamaha on it with a 80lb Motorguide trolling motor (You could ski behind the trolling motor on some fully charged batteries! :D ) I ended up selling it and later bought a 1648 War Eagle. If I had it to do all over again, I would go back with a F&F complete with rod holders and multi pedestal seating in the front. They literally give you a diagram of a boat hull and you draw in what you want and where you want it. Boat and trailer cost me between 3500-4000 bucks.

Bobberwatcher is right. And there are at least two boat companies here close to the house that will make you what you want. Leagend Craft and Weld Craft. Will get numbers if you want. Big wide center console with Rhineo liner and bait well, live well. storage.......

May go get me a new now.

    See what you started.

Good luck. Post pictures when you get it.

TJ -- all depends on what type of water you fish most, how much muscle you want, and do you want fish from inside a boat or from on top of it. Last year I purchased an alumacraft jon, 16x48, with no center seat. Makes it really easy to layout anyway you wish. With the 25 hp yamaha it fits our fishing perfectly...rivers, smaller lakes. It'll do well on bigger lakes, but when the wind is up, you can handle it but you really need to pay attention.
