Got one a year ago...awesome...the heating design with the diamond shaped tube allows the top cooking portion to get 350 plus...the bottom never gets above 120 degrees....your oil and "fryer fallout" never gets scorched!!!! I modified my drain pitcock to drain oil back into container when cool then wash the fryer out into a 5 gallon bucket from my hot water hose bib I installed outside when I built the house . Works great!

Don't think I am hijacking this thread but I was going to put in my .02. By far the best cooker there is. We use the 4 gallon one here at the shop. Yesterday I cooked for 15 and nobody had to wait. The oil you save will pay for the cooker over the life of the filter. I wouldn't use it for turkey though. A buddy has a 8 or 9 gallon one and it gets pricey to fill up. You can't go wrong

Nope! Just close the lid and wait till next time! I did get a cover for mine for a whopping 99 cents at the dollar store. I get 18 cooks on the oil before change. Just filter about every 5 or 6 cooks. I use automotive paint strainers to filter.
