Always use a swivel and 6# flouro leader. Swivel takes place of split shot (hazardous in Calif!!) and allows use of lighter jig and still get down fast. 8# Nanofil main line is highly visible and if I can see it with my eyes, those crappie sure as heck can! Don't use rod to free hung jig. Can paint barrell of swivel with nail polish (pink) makes a good teaser!!

I DO MY BEST PROOFREADING RIGHT AFTER I HIT THE "SUBMIT" BUTON
Hi-vis/clear line, painted jig/unpainted jig, I catch the same amount of fish. Water here is murky.
I use Hi-Vis with swivel and a clear leader line. I do like the small swivel so you can pull it thru the eyes when needed.
All men are created equal, some work harder in the preseason.

At this time of year I mainly fish deep holding two rods. I use 20 lb braided line (it has a good feel; I like the way it fishes) with a fast snap tied to it. Then I make leaders using flouracarbon; tie a swivel on top and your jigs below that. Then I store them on a "Tackle Buddy" from Bass Pro.When you break of this prevents having to re-tie; you can be fishing again in less than a minute. All you have to do is unsnap the old swivel and snap the new leader on.
Cp between your cataracts and me without reading glasses I know neither one of us could see the line when we fished roflmbo. You sure felt the thump though he heh he he.
Yes please on the lessons too ha ha ha

We fish Bull Shoals, northfork,Greers Ferry,Ouachita (clear water),White river Bottom lakes(dingy water) Ozark 10' jigpole, shimano 1000 reels. A good crappie fishermen friend showed us the 10lb and 12lb berkely Nano in clear mist!!! No swivels,no twists, kind of pricey but worth it!! Can see your line jump in the wind!! Not a Pro but This works for Us in all these waters!!!
