Something has hurt the bite lately. They are still there according to your nets.

Bite has fell off many places, don't figure.

Just curious why do you net one of the most popular places to fish this time of year when there is a whole lake to net?

Good question. It is asked every year.
We set in Gold Creek and Caney Creek because they were the standard sampling sites picked when trap net sampling began in the mid 90s. To have a consistent data set so that you can compare year after year, it is important to eliminate as many factors as you can. This takes some of the sampling error out of the equation and makes the data and trends more reliable. My guess is that these two areas were chosen back then because it was the easiest place to net fish. The most bang for our buck. All lakes that we sample in District 10 (D-10) have standard sampling sites. We realize that it is an inconvenience some times, but it is for a limited time. Only 12 days in a year. Hopefully this answers your question. Thanks for asking.

Man that's cool - thanks for what you do and thanks for sharing the post/pics. I miss fishing that grass, but I quit fishing over there after 4 great years. I'm anti-social when I'm fishing I guess b/c I like to be alone and that's definitely not the place to accomplish that LOL. Thanks again!
