Continuing with the above, had to close and restart my browser on this stinkin' Windows lap top, gonna have to switch back to my Mac if I am going to spend much time on the web tonight. Each year in December, the Corp Draws down Lake Wappapello, that always causes a surge down here for us, as RCC said earlier, takes about a week for it to hit us when they jack the water flows up thru the dam at Lake Wap. According to the above article, the drawdown started today, so sounds like might have to go troll the ditch around the edge of Lake Hogue.

Thanks for the info gzrglide. You or anybody else are not hijacking this thread. I have a lot to learn about the river and this site is where I learn it. I have found that water level is the most important thing so far.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.....with the last drainage ditch they cut in and the hole in the levy she won't hold the water for long and the fishing should be great afterwards..... I'll be in the woods until she drops!

    Thanks Billy,

Watch Rivergages.com, St. Francis River near Tulot is the graph you want. Level 209.5 to 210.5 are normally pretty good, but I also watch the last 30 days, if it is rising or falling fairly quickly, probably going to be muddy. Fairly stable water level in the range above, fishing is usually pretty good.
