Haha, boy does this sound familiar!! When I first started fishing Conway in the summer I would fish from daylight till dark and only catch two or three fish. The whole time I'm thinking, "Man, the bite sucks today!!" Then I'd run into some old guy at the ramp and he'd say, "Sure was slow today, took me four hours to get a limit." MAN, that'll make you want to take up golf!!! 
Keep at it, you will get em figured out.
