    Default Horseshoe lake today

Finally got a chance to fish Horseshoe before the storm rolled in this morning. I started at first light with 0 crappie and ended with 2 catfish. I was fishing in front of a guy and as soon as I would leave a pier, he would come right behind me and catch 5 or so good crappie. I tried to watch and see what he was doing, but it was harder than i thought. I finally built up the nerve to ask him what was his secret, he shared his info and I still struck out. We met him at the ramp leaving and im convinced that I must work on my technique. There were alot of 11-12 inch and over crappie in his cooler. He offered me a few but I refuse because of shame. I'll be back in the morning to try my luck again

Haha, boy does this sound familiar!! When I first started fishing Conway in the summer I would fish from daylight till dark and only catch two or three fish. The whole time I'm thinking, "Man, the bite sucks today!!" Then I'd run into some old guy at the ramp and he'd say, "Sure was slow today, took me four hours to get a limit." MAN, that'll make you want to take up golf!!! Keep at it, you will get em figured out.

Yesterday my neighbor fished same area here on my home lake I did and caught 2 over 10'' and 2 about 8''. He was shocked when he saw my limit of 10'' to 14'' Crappie and a couple Channel Cat. I actually caught about 60 jigging cover under the water. He is an older fisherman but I do have an advantage of 40 + years experience on this water and over 400 sunken structures. Standard depth finders are little help when fish are in 4 to 5' water. Nothing beats time on the water and getting the right presentation. Here fishing stakebeds in shallow water are good if you can put the jigs in them , close or in the area just does'nt work most times. You will need to put in your time or strike up friends with fishermen that know how to find them. All else fails hire a guide to show you the ropes .

It was probably Memphislab!! He has done that to me several times . Just stay after it, you will figure it out. Its fun when you pull out good fish from the piers at the SHOE. I use a 5' ultralite and shoot the docks and man its fun when you find em!!

    Good luck

I'm busted! Hawg, I meet Newcrappie at the ramp this morning and showed him and his dad a few good spots. It was neat watching his dad catch his first crappie. He just moved from Germany a few months ago, not many crappie over there. I meet BillyE yesterday fishing the condos, real nice guy.
