Where in LA do you live? Do you ever fish Toledo bend, I went in January of '04 and slaughtered the largemouth right by the bridge that seperates fresh water from the salt water I think, my roommate at the time was Cajun to the bone and his dad works the COE down there, we got PRIME guided fishing, I learned to "dropshot" in up to 50 ft of water, pulling 4 to 7 pounders out like it was NOTHING!
