Lake Greeson is turning on. We caught these this morning on Rosey Red minnows from 11 to 18-feet deep on bamboo condos we just dropped in the last couple weeks.

Surface temps are in the mid 70s and the lake level is holding so they should just keep piling in!

That's just plain wrong...Takin' those folks out on the lake on a beautiful morning and coming back in with that nice mess of crappie, all while I'm stuck in a classroom. I can't wait for CC. My grandfather used to ask me what the monkey said when he got his tail cut off. "It won't be long now!"

    Hey ceb:

It was a beautiful morning! Sorry you were stuck in class but it will all be worth it someday.

Crappie Camp is just around the corner. I like your granfather's saying - I think I'll adopt it.

Great catch. Nimrod is still on a slow fall . The few decent fish I caught were shallow (3' to 6'). The ones that hit the jig hammered it , just tough finding any yet. I'm ready when they do start.:D Glad they've started somewhere.

Yeah, they were talking about having a fish fry - trying to decide who they were willing to share their crappie with.

Since I've had time to do some fishing between building and sinking condos I've been feeding a lot of fish to my family. I'm trying to find out how many days a week we can eat it before we get tired of it. We've had crappie baked, fried, blackened and in crappie dip and we've had bacon wrapped white bass. No one is complaining yet. It's a lot cheaper and probably better for you than beef or pork from the grocery store. When I fry up a mess I usually have enough left over for fish sandwiches for several days. I guess I’ve eaten crappie nearly every day for about the last three weeks and I aint no where near tired of it yet.

I didn't think that was possible.

It's kinda like the Hokey-Pokey...That's what its all about. I make it a point to fry more than an army could eat just for that reason. I might even like it better the second time around.

    Hey J:

The biggest one was just under 15-inches but it was really thick for a white crappie. The lady caught the biggest two crappie and mentioned that fact several times. We also kept three small blue cats but decided not to put them in the picture after one of them ripped it's self off my other picture rod.

I LOVE leftover crappie sandwiches. I put a few fillets on some aluminum foil in the toaster oven set at 400 degrees and by the time I get some mayo and dill relish on some bread they are ready to go. Had some big ole hamburger buns for the last round and they made really good fish sandwiches!
