    Fax me some money, dudes!

I may be the luckiest unlucky guy on Earth. Wife and I are finally going camping. Got a camper in February, the day before my mother had a car wreck (Feb 15, her 85th birthday). Got it used, a little popup (all we could afford).....but had to postpone going because we couldn't leave Mother (she lives next door). This is why I wasn't at Crappie Camp, btw. She's finally better and able to get around. So we have reservations at Greers (Choctaw) for a few days. It's our 43rd anniversary on May 30 and that's actually what my wife wanted for that, was to go camping. She's been on my back for 42 of those 43 to get a camper, but we never could afford it. So now we're ready to go, and then ..............

I got her a different used car, and she's finally able to drive again. Whoops, today she says "The 'service engine soon' light is on all the time". Oh my. Well, I figure camping is shot. I take it in to a local shop today and they stick the computer on it, and it's nothing more than two codes for something minor that are in history, not current.......but never were cleared. Woo hooo.....good news.

    I come home, and.................

the bathroom ceiling is leaking on me.

Uh, huh? Water pouring out of it, next to the overhead a/c duct. I get a light and get up there, and my goodness gertie!!!! My a/c unit is a mess. Drain plugs are backed up, rust and wet, rusty metal pieces are everywhere. Water is dripping through the ceiling. I turn off the a/c unit totally, and put buckets under where it is dripping.

My good buddy the a/c repair guy comes out and looks at it...............and...............well, you can guess, can't you? I'm a Charter LOSER (what does that stand for again?), ain't I?

Yep, a whole new unit. Totally. Everything. This one is rusted out, falling apart...........he asked when we put it in, and I can't even remember. We moved here in 1989 and it was a few years after that that we had to replace the original unit. Now it's shot. Literally rusted out to where it's coming apart in my hands.

    Six grand.

Or the cost of a new four wheeler. Or six new deer rifles. Or a new motor for my little flatbottom, and 59 free meals and clothes for the homeless.

And I don't have any idea where I'm gonna get it. The GOOD news of course, is that how lucky I am to have this happen BEFORE I went camping.....to have it happen while we were gone, we'd have come home to a totally flooded house, and a million dollars in sheet rock repair. This way, it's just hot to sleep tonight!

OH well. I'm going camping after church tomorrow, and I'm gonna sit under a tree and sin mightily with brown amber liquid for a few days. And if you need to buy some stock this week, buy it in Visa.

When it rains it pours. But you get to carry your camper out and get some r & r. Enjoy your trip.

If your camper has A/C, then set it up in your yard when you get back and sleep in it at nights. Tell your wife that you finally got the hint that she wanted to go camping so now you can camp every night. Beats the heck out of sweating at night while trying to sleep.

Can't set it up at home, it takes a 30 amp breaker, and where I'd plug it in at, it'd just pop.

BUT, I WILL have it on tonight.

Next issue???? Packing to leave. Wife hooks up boat to her Tahoe. Pulls forward in driveway to give me room. Funny noise from right trailer wheel. Guess what?

No, not bearings. (This is a new axle. Y'all never heard that story. And no, I ain't telling it). THREE of the lugnuts are backed off and almost gone! WHEW! Jacked it up, tightened 'em back down, and good to go. Loading cold stuff and heading out.

Y'all be good. If I have a cell signal, I'll try to check in and look at fish pictures
