Third, find a SAFER job. It will pay even less. It was even less safe, too, because 45% of the company got laid off in my tenure there. I was too low, under the radar, and escaped.

Fourth, forego paying the bills, don't buy anything, and put 16% of your salary in a 401k for as long as you can. Invest in whatever is opposite of what I invested in!!

Fifth, somehow survive the Widowmaker (L.A.D.) heart attack. (Note: this does let you play the sympathy card at work every once in a while). Make it to about 62, 63, or so.......and just say "BYE".

    That is all.
I'm part of the way there, although I hope to sidestep some of your pitstops -- particularly the widow maker heart attack!

I've still got 22 years and a few months before I can "just say "BYE". But I've got the college degree and I'm all but done with a second one. I also have the bumpy job experience, however, the last few years have been good to me. And I'm putting money in a 401K... Again.

The problem is that I already feel old! I hate to imagine how I'm gonna feel in another 22 years!

I am at work now. Been here since six. I might get to go home around 5. Do this every day except Saturdays and Sundays. I get to go home around 3:30 or 4 then. I have been too chicken to hurt my back or anything like that.

I have a job where I dont work very many weekends and have a day or two off during the week. I went to a small local lake around here on a monday and there were probably 30 boats there. It was nearly worse than the weekend.

You guys have settled one thing for me... If I sneak off to go fishing on a weekday, it won't be on a Monday!
