Tony, it's easy.
First, you borrow more than you knew existed and get a college degree. It took more than money in my case, it took help of some smart tutors.
Second, get a 'SAFE' job. It will not pay much. And in my case, it wasn't even safe, I got fired when a certain governor left office.
Third, find a SAFER job. It will pay even less. It was even less safe, too, because 45% of the company got laid off in my tenure there. I was too low, under the radar, and escaped.
Fourth, forego paying the bills, don't buy anything, and put 16% of your salary in a 401k for as long as you can. Invest in whatever is opposite of what I invested in!!
Fifth, somehow survive the Widowmaker (L.A.D.) heart attack. (Note: this does let you play the sympathy card at work every once in a while). Make it to about 62, 63, or so.......and just say "BYE".
