    Default Question for the PRO's

When the temp starts coming up say from May to Aug. is there a certain pattern crappie will follow like in the shallow around the cypress trees and knees in the mornings and back into deeper water in the middle of the day to the afternoon? All answers are appreciated.

    Yes.

You can thank me later. I would have liked it better if it would have been a multible choice question, but a yes or no question is almost as good.

Well that was a guess, I wasn't sure if it was right. The reason I ask is it looks like I'm not going to get a chance to get after them until then due to water levels and I haven't really ever fished for crappie that late in the year so I wasn't real sure where to look for them.

As the water warms crappie will migrate to deeper trees and use the shade allot more. I mostly find them just off the bottom around the cypress trees. But take heed... they will suspend also around the trees. always a good ideal to have a bobber rig to flip in around the trees, or jig shallower to take advantage of suspending fish. especially at day light when they will be most likely be up towards the top where the tree comes out of the water to take advantage of feeding before the sun or warm weather drives them deep on the trees again. Good Luck.

They tend to get harder to catch in most lakes as the water temps keep climbing into the summer months, they will move back into deep water for the most part but some shallow lakes look for them in the shade , oxygen levels will determine depth in deep lakes!

I figured I had a 50% chance at being a pro. If yes don't work, I'm going with no. When it's hot, I don't know if the crappie will be in the shade, but that's where I'll be fishing, if there is any shade.

I have fished with a fellow a couple times who likes a little hot sunny fishing. He will wear them out...everyday.

Well since RCC has responded, I guess that qualifies me too.

It depends upon the lake you are fishing. Crappie Pro wears them out on Conway during Summer in shady areas because that is a shallow lake. And I think Crappie Greg has them figured out on deeper lakes.
Now if you are like me and don't know how to figure all of that out, fish on Conway during the fall and winter in the pool. Drag Bandits on Maumelle, Greer's, Degray, or Greeson any other time of the year.
