I thought the same thing. I was just reporting the answer than the Captain gave me.

Then I am concerned that your Captain is misguided. And this is SIMPLY my personal opinion, and nothing else. But that is one reason that I have trouble trusting AGFC Wardens many times. Most are great. But man, if the head guy isn't sure of the law that he's trying to enforce, I have no great confidence.
Sorry. I guess I should have said "The Captain" or something. Don't know your structure well enough, my bad.
I appreciate you and the effort. I'd think we'd all like to be straight on this issue......
So on day one and day three cook a mess of fish, and you can catch another limit.
Buckrub - you are correct. Once fish is processed and put up at a permanent residence it does not count toward the possession limit. The possession limit was redefined from "The total limit of a specific fish species that is in your possession at any time, whether on your person or stored in another location." to the definition that you quoted above "The total limit of a certain fish species that is in your possession at any time, whether on your person or stored in another location. Fish and wild game (other than migratory game birds) that have been processed and stored at a residence do not count toward a person’s possession limit. A residence is defined as a house or house trailer that is permanently in place and is owned, leased or rented by an individual; it does not include mobile travel trailers, tents, vehicles or temporary rental units (motels, lodges, cabins, resorts, etc.)". This change went into effect January 1, 2011.
Gomer - for the purpose of a picture, it is alright that more than one person's limit is in the picture. As long as more than one person caught the fish there should not be a problem.
At least u were smart enough to figure out the cooler part. A reasonable person would figure out that if it is ok for 40 fish to be in a cooler it is ok for the said 40 fish to be on a tailgate. From the questions you have asked its hard to believe you really had no motive in your line of questioning other than reasonable answers.
