Close call... Hopefully they caught the leak in time. A bad situation for residents in that area.

OEM and other crews has set up oil booms and check dams beneath the access road in the wetland. So far this has contained the oil to the the edge of the wetland. In addtion to this, the colverts that run under highway 89 to Lake Conway have been plugged up. Crews will continue to monitor the situation for the foreseable future. As of now no oil has made it into Lake Conway. I will be up early in the morning monitoring the situation. So I will not be available for further coments tonight.
That sounds good! Hopefully it won't progress any further. Thank you for the report.

Just back home from inspecting the site. The cleanup crews placed more booms down stream of the previous ones that they set last night, Unfortunatly some of the oil (a small amout) is finding its way past the booms. However, this should all be contained to the part of the wetland/lake that is south of Highway 89. The blocked culverts that goes under Highway 89 should keep any oil from reaching the main body of the lake. THey have also placced booms on the north side of Highway 89 in case the water tops the road due to the blocked culverts. It would take approximately 4 inches of rain to do this though. There will be a town meeting at 2:00pm today at the Mayflower Highschool if anyone is interested on getting additional information. That is it for now.

Several years ago my uncle had a fuel oil leak that got into his 5 acre lake. Did not kill many fish but they tasted of oil for 3 years. Hope the size of the lake dilutes any that makes it in!

I had this photo texted to me of the oil leak. Doesn't look good.
