I drop 2 anchors...am I missing why this is not more advantageous than using a trolling motor? I usually can stay at a brush pile for an hour at a time...I may as well get comfy!
BIG trolling motor helps, markers help, and on and on and on...
I prefer no wind though![]()
You Can Make a Difference!
I seldom fish one condo or brushpile more than a few minutes. Verticle jigging it helps to jocky boat in right position. I really hate having anchors near my cover I place as it gets damaged or dragged and too close a anchor could scare fish. Not to mention the mud everytime ya pull an anchor in the boat. Can you imagine try'n to set anchor 40 to 50 times a day? That is the number of spots I fish on a slow day sometimes.

I'm not an anchor guy. I do like to find my target on my graph and then toss a marker near it. I don't try to hold perfectly still, just want to get close to the marker and fish the cover. If I catch a fish, I want the wind to push me off the intended target. Once my fish is in the boat, I use the trolling motor to gently get back in position and hopefully catch another.
I fish like this so that while I am unhooking the fish, putting it in the live well, etc. I'm not making noise right over the intended target which I think results in less spooked fish. That may not be true, but it works for me. That's my![]()
Thank you. I appreciate all this info. There are just days where it's amazing I still have hair on my head after dealing with the wind.
I've wondered about anchoring. I will tie up occasionally but not directly over a spot.
Now it's time to do more of this!![]()
Everyone needs to read this one, print it off, laminate it, and tape it to their forehead for easy access in case you forget. Shadows and noise are not your friend. Sometimes even in deeper water, the fish are high in the water column and if you run over the top of them, it's over. It can be the difference in catching several off one spot vs 1 off a spot with my style of fishing.
