It might help you decide where you want to mount the unit, or the transducer, a little about how it works & what it can/can't do, etc.
The thread is a long read ... but, the manual that comes with the unit is practically useless, and I've listed links to a better Operation Manual, where to get updates (though yours will probably already be the 3.6 version), and a cheap place to get a blank micro sd card/reader for future updates or to use for screen shots.

Thanks joe004 that's what what I was thinking but something with an extra letter or number usually means its a better unit. But maybe not this time.
