Good morning! Haven't been doing any fishing, seems like I have been spending every weekend in the shed with the motor on the stand. Anyway, I had the compression tester on last night and when I took it off the bottom cylinder, the spark plug thread repair came out with it! I was wondering what you guys thought. Should I have another thread repair put in or should I just go ahead and put a new head on it. It's a 1977 25hp Rude. I have a used head, head gasket, and new thermostat in my ebay shopping cart for $106, shipping included. Should I buy the parts or should I have the threads repaired again? Also, does anyone know a good independent mechanic that would make the repair if I went this route? Thank you for the help!
P.S. If anyone is looking for something to talk about on this cold day, I have a few other repair questions on this motor too!

Helicoils are fine... Not sure why it would have come out?
You should be able to just screw it back in..

it is either broke or out of gas...went thru the same type of thing in my misspent youth...just when you need it the worst...well you know...anyway if I had saved the money I spent on fixing the motor I could have bought a good used motor...my 2 cents...good luck...
