    Default New to Crappie fishing.

Newbie here so cut me some slack. I've been reading the posts for a while now and am amazed at how many people fish certain areas such as Gold creek. With all the crowding seems like lake Conway is such a big area, why not fish the rest of the lake? Adams landing area, Brannon landing, Palarm creek. Are the fish just not there, or are people just not talking about the rest of the lake?

Welcome to the board here at C.C! Never fished Conway, but someone should chime in soon with an answer.

Welcome from the Shores of Lake conway. Yes there are lots of places on Conway to catch fish besides Gold Creek...but few that are better than Gold Creek Oct -Feb. Dix creek, Caney Creek, Pierce Creek, Hwy 89 bridge, Adams Lake can all hold some fish. But for best results I prefer Gold Creek and I live right there so for me the choice is easy and I get along with crowds pretty good. Search my post when you get a chance... you will get a ton of info on lake conway. LOL you can learn in afew hours what it took me almost 30 years to learn. Good Luck.

Just my 2 cents but gold creek is fished by many and talked about like caney also. The 89 bridge is also good and can at times be crowded. I don't fish Conway much anymore as I don't want to tear up my boat and I have water closer to home. There are other places that offer good winter time fishing but not as crowded like Adams lake area. It's just in what you want to fish more or less with the crowds or not so many folks. Patience is a must cause at times you are rod tip to the next boat. If you fish during the week it's not as bad cause it eliminates a lot of us weekend warriors. But if you fish in an area like gold creek a lot folks are regulars and you can make new friends there too. T

Welcome to the board. Don't know where you're from but Gold Creek on Lake Conway is great place to cut your new "Crappie Teeth". Plenty of fish and education in that area, as well as this board is a wealth of information. Good luck to you !!

Welcome from Conway, lake Conway is a 6,700 acre lake when it is full to the brim with water, every fish in the lake don't go to Gold creek or Caney creek, or any of the other places mentioned, with a impoundment of this size there are many opertunities in many different spots, but Gold creek and Caney creek has gotten a over abundance of notoriety over the course of the last few years due to the fact that crappie are real easy to catch there when they make their fall run chasing the shad. It's not a matter of is those places the only place to catch crappie in lake Conway, cause they are not, it's just been a productive area and have been talked about a lot and people think that those locations are the only place to catch crappie. Lake Conway has a very decent crappie population and in the fall of the year even a rookie crappie fisherman can stand a good chance of catching a few crappie in gold creek or Caney creek. But by no means is Gold creek and Caney Creek the only places to catch crappie on lake Conway.

From the other side of the ditch, welcome to c.c
Sounds like caney and gold creeks have to be some of the worst places to fish. If you catch the drift.
