I know Lake Monticello has been fished hard over the years and I always wondered how there was any fish left in it with all the crappie coming out of it. If you are having any trouble finding crappie this time of year then there has been a drastic reduction in the population. I remember catching bream, bass and crappie in that 60 fow. Seemed all the fish went deep during December, January, and Febuary. I remember you had to keep what ever you caught because the fishes stomachs would be pooched out of their mouths and eyes popped out. I think they would need to restock it with crappie. I wonder if that old house can still be seen in the lake?

I spent a lot of time just riding around with the TM looking at the Humminbird and getting a lay of the landscape so to speak. I caught one smaller Crappie and hung a really nice one that got off. I'm thinking next trip will be better......we'll see, LOL!

Nice crappie Steve. LM has been going down hill the last couple of years. I think AGFC have really neglected L Monticello. It needs more fertilization and stocking.
