I like stake beds using bamboo. They hold fish, not too bad about hanging up and once you drive them into the mud they dont move.

That would explain why i couldnt find a certain brush pile the last time i was out there. It produced pretty well for me once, next time it was gone, i just thought i was crazy!!! But seriously, there is no need to sink brush in The Pool, it is not hard to find existing brush there, it is basically just one big brush pile as it is!!

I can't and won't knock it if I've never tried it and I've never tried stake beds but want to. Since so many lakes are low right now due to dams, planned vegitation growth, or just drought it would be a great time to drive some into say 6 or 7 FOW. Not real sure how tall most guys make stakes but I'd say 5' or so would work well enough and if placed in that 6-7 FOW range when a lake is say 8' low that would be nearly 15 FOW when lakes are normal which is about where the lake we fish is right now. For Spring fishing though stakes that stick up say 5' in 8 to 10 FOW would work well. I may give that a try. Any special type patterns to make when I go about it yall??
Rookie,I wish I had more info on driopping structure, that was the first and last time I really put a lot into manmade structure. It disappeared almost as fast as it was placed. But I put out stake beds, if I'd have put brush out I think I'd still be fishing those structures still. My opinion is that if you are fishing a heavily fished area and you want to drop structure do bruspiles, they wiill be found and fished and they might get scattered somewhat but they will take the abuse better
For all those guys on here that might be dropping anchors, please don't do that. I can't remember the last time I used an anchor in the lake, it's not the river.
Rookie, if I do something like that again it will definatly be in a different spot or maybe even a different body of water. It is a lot of work but in areas that has little or no structure it can pay off with big dividends. I will send you a pm if it ever happens again.

Here's what I do with my stake beds. These are "driven" into the lake bed.I like to vary the distance in between the stakes. Some days the fish want a little more shade and they get near the stakes that are just a few inches apart. Some days they are on the more open stakes. I also like to run 3-5 stakes out a way from the main body of the bed. Kind of like fence posts. There are more times than not that I will catch fish on those. Hope that helps.
