    Default Crappie... on the docks.

I went out this morning, w/ out all of the boat traffic Nimrod's complaining about. found a few, but mostly dinks & the best pattern was on the shady side of docks, here at the house. wound up w/ 7, (6 paperlips & 1 green carp). They took lockjaw around 11am, & the bite shut off. I wound up knocking off around 1pm. Here is the pattern that I used. Most of the fish came on the chartreuse dyno shad (crappie pro) & I wound up w/ a couple of fish on these little minnow imitators.

We did the tightlined jig method in 3-4 ft of water, w/ the jig around 2 1/2 ft. The fish were holding sort of tight to the cover, & I had to get the jig under the docks to get the bigger ones. Here they are.

I all but thought it would be tough crappie fishing after the water heated up here at home in our skinny lake, but I was able to find a few like these on the deeper structure. I haven't been able to find any in our deepest water, (which is about 6' right now) but we'll keep trying. I am gonna try some new territory real soon, too.

Sounds like you had the right plan for Memorial Day when you beat the crowds and the fish.

    Nice going Randy!

Yeah, I'm back. I had some health problems a few weeks ago and had a couple of stents put in the heart arteries. I'm doing fine now, I went back to work and worked a few days and took a week of vacation last week. I went to Pendleton and camped for the week, I had a really good time but the fishing wasn't very good. Morgan Point has about 5 feet of extra water in it and I couldn't find the crappie. We caught some bream and catfish though. Hopefully the fishing will get better there, when the Ark river quits raging.

Nice mess O fish Randy. I plan on fishing with a local mill owner on Nimrod tomarrow. I hope all the foreigners and their water toys are gone ! Saw Slabbandit yesterday and said he was planning on going out . It was just too windy on the lake. Catch'n up on honey dues today .:D Hope it don't storm tomarrow and it should be good. We've done well in the deeper water if we work at it.
Why don't you get with your neighbor Jim and try your luck on Nimrod ?:D

    nimrod,

I need to do just that. Jim has been pretty busy these days. He had his hat handed to him w/ some health problems, & can't go like he used to. He's also been busy getting some stuff done w/ a trailer that he has up there also. If I go to nimrod, it's gonna have to be w/ him or you b'cause of all of the stumps he tells me about. I do want to go learn that lake. hopefully soon. the wife's going out of town this coming weekend, so I won't be able to do much (takin' care of my girls), but hopefully in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to learn some new water.

The water level is 345 + no worry hitting stumps. Later at 342 and lower watch out!
