    Default Greeson Action Picking Up

The crappie on Greeson are finally acting like they've given up on the idea of spawning and more like they're starting to think about putting some weight back on.

We kept 19 this morning and 8 were 14 to 16-inches:

They're still hanging pretty close to where they spawned but bunching up a little better than they have been and thumping a jig every now and then.

Those are some nice fish Jerry. Are they real deep ? At Nimrod we have to fish 8 to 12' around stake beds or brushpiles right on the bottom. I see you post lots of Black Crappie. Here our good ones are always White Crappie as we have a dingy lake most of the time. The Blacks are here and in good numbers but seldom catch any over 8 ''. I know they do better in clear infertile lakes ,where whites like fertile colored waters. But wonder why they don't grow better ?

    Hey Nimrod:

We're catching them about the same depth as you - 8 to 12-feet deep but in deeper water. I guess we have about equal numbers of white and black crappie and they both seem to do well in Greeson.

Hey Jerry, That's one nice string of fish! Debra and I went out this afternoon for a little while and kept 12. Some on minnows some on jigs. The boat traffic was terrible, as expected. We had a couple party barges loaded down with people come by us so close we could hear them talking! One made a circle around us while we were fishing while running wide open. Had a young lady driving and it looked like she didn't think she was doing anything wrong.

Jerry, that is some catch, looks like some great fish there. This summer may be better than previous ones for you. Congrats on the catch and thanks for the post.
You can't fish with a hung line!

We have a local who has purchased a new V bottom boat that runs it too slow to plane out. It rears up so bad and pushes waves something terriable ! I tried to ask him if he was having trouble with it as he was washing us out on the bank. He said no that just did'nt want to go fast. Tried to explain about it would save gas and not wash everyone off the lake if he would atleast plane it off.

Tails look pretty beat up on that fantastic stringer. Musta been workin' the beds pretty good. Ours on Table Rock our tails on most females are not beat up and they still have eggs. Not sure what went on this spring with the cold snap.

Keep kickin' it ole school Jerry!

Our Crappie Camps are open to everyone that wants to come. At this point we've not scheduled another one but if we don't have one this Fall we probably will next April.
