Minnow size

Since we are dicussing pros and cons , use or going Minnowless. What size minnow is the best? I hear that those tiny ones are best. Next man says Bass minnows and next pink minnows. My dear departed dad back in his fishing days trolled big Bass minnows and always did quite well. Let the discussion begin .
I'm sure there will be a wide spead bunch of opinions. There is a fellow that his family grows Goldfish. He uses Goldfish and hand picks his one at a time out of a huge concrete tough at the farm. But he is not the only one I know that fishes with them.

Lmbo. Before I started using the minnow patch I used small ones and I like the rosy reds. Since I started using the patch I use only jigs now lol.

I'm just curious why do you want to know if all you fish with are southern pro jigs. You ain't fixing to start drowning miners are you.

No Conway just try'n to give folks something to talk about. I used Minnows for years and quit em cold Turkey nearly a decade ago. It has saved me nearly enough money to have bought a new boat too.

from my experience it depends on the lake and how aggressive the fish are that day!! i know that ronnie capps hand picks his for tour.also !!!!!!! i know at lake washington they don't like the larger bass minnows!!! more of a medium (#6) seems to work best . i also noticed larger minnows seem to attract more of the toothy fish (gar) . i don't like the small ones because they don't live as long and are hard to stay on hook!!! i have heard some of the pros say they like larger minnows in tours because the smaller crappie want bother them as much !!! so i'll have all in medium !!!!!!!!!!!!

I like a #6 most of the time. Usually you're forced to buy whatever they have on hand, and they're not graded very well anymore.. #8's in the summer when the fish are more aggressive, if you do have a choice.

The clearer the water ....the smaller the minnow. The muddier the water... the bigger the minner.

I like #8's but lately the #6's are good size. Hey NIMROD, since you saved enough money not buying "minners", when we going to get to see that new boat??
