I told him that I hope it don't you as long to figure that out as it did to mark a waypoint. I asked him why he don't come on over and get me. He replied that he wanted to see what the MOB button does. After a hour or so, I could barely see him in the far distance moving the boat around in a radical fashion. He was having trouble making the little boat on his map goto the MOB waypoint. Long story short, I saved myself. All Xring needs for a depth finder is a 20' stick marked off in 1 foot increments, a good throw cushion and a compass.
I am supprised and somewhat embarrassed that my FORMER friend would make up such a story, with hardly any truth in it. What really happened was that rtark went out and bought a boat, a faster boat than mine, so I went out and bought a fancy'r sonar than his, of course this was unintentional, as his is a 20 foot stick with 1 foot hash marks up the stick. He whined and begged to go with me, his knowledge of electronics being vastly superior to my own, I reasoned that possibly he would fall in and the race for the better/faster boat would be over, costing us less money and maybe saving our friend ship. I thought everything was working well, until I began my rescue attempt. After carefully reading the 614 page instruction manual, I realized I may not have read what they wrote, The english version was on the other side..I did find the MOB instructions,,(mouthy ole boy) or,,thats how I read it. I pressed it twice,,like it said and navigation began, I was so happy, then I realized that I had to either #1 Row #2 deploy trolling motor #3 crank my S L O W mercury. I remembered him waving bye to me as he passed me in the white s**T, so I choose to row, slowly, I really didn't need the MOB after all, it was quite evident where he was from the screaming and cussing. Rtark is a great distance swimmer, he again outran me to the bank...Now thats the way I remember it...
